Food Hygiene and ControlsContract: The BTSF Food Hygiene and Controls programme 2010 – 2011 (Contract n° 2009 96 04) provided training courses on meat and products derived from meat, milk and dairy products, fishery products and LBM. 




The programme was mainly dedicated to official veterinarians of the EU Member States, with the organisation of:

 o    33 training events

o    5 days course

o    11 training locations and participants coming from 58 different countries

Objectives:The programme aimed at spreading knowledge and Community best practices in order to increase the level of expertise with regard to food hygiene and control issues concerning all stages of production, processing and distribution of meat, milk and fishery products. As a matter of fact, the legislation on Hygiene and Controls for food of animal origin is a complex one. Community's experience should be shared and the understanding of legislation's requirements be uniform throughout the EU.


Impact: On the whole, 930 training hours have been delivered by 66 tutors, on the three type of courses. 50 establishments have been visited. It has been the opportunity for trainees to discuss on real case basis, on a wide range of issues dealing with food hygiene and controls. 700 participants were reached at the end of the programme. 


Support provided by the project : the project provided accommodation, catering, training material and delivery to 700 participants. 614 trainees were originated from the EU Member States, while 31 were originating from EFTA countries, 46 from the ENP and Mediterranean basin and 9 from other countries in Africa, Asia and South America.
