The European Union Better Training for Safer Food initiative is back in Vietnam from 14th to 18th May 2018 for the organization of Safety of Aquaculture Products Workshop targeting participants from all ASEAN Countries.

The specific objective is to train professionals with a background as officers in the competent authorities to design and implement a system of official controls which are efficient in regard to verification of compliance with general and specific hygiene and food safety requirements for aquaculture products, in particular residues of VMP.

The lectures, hands-on training, case-studies, and discussions shall bring the participants in a position where they are able to identify gaps and non-compliances in their national systems and therefore be able to contribute to improve and reinforce the sanitary and phytosanitary framework as necessary in each of their countries and in relevant regional associations.

Selection procedure:

Selection of participants

The National Contact Point designated by the central administration in each of the invited country will:

a) consider the number of participants to be supported by the project;

b) select participants complying with the selection criteria given hereunder and request them to fill the attached registration form;

c) send the registration forms of the selected participants to Ms. Panicha Pumintong, Local Event Manager ( and to Mr Nathan Preteseille, Event Manager ( latest 04th January 2018.

d) Inform the Event Manager if additional participants not to be supported by the project and attending at the cost of their own authority want to attend the workshop.

The Event Manager will verify the compliance of proposed participants to the selection criteria on the basis of the registration forms and inform the National Contact Point accordingly.

Selection criteria

The participants should:

a) be officers of the national competent authorities and/or institutions involved the regulations of plant products especially focusing on plant health, contaminants and microbiology criteria.

b) be preferably in a position giving them the function to train other officers in the national competent authorities and private sector operators, so as to ensure further dissemination of the knowledge acquired during the workshop;

c) be able to work in English and participate with ease in work sessions discussions
