Description :

The 1st training session of the Better Training for Safer Food project regarding “EU rules on general food labelling and claims as well as on specific categories of foods such as food supplements, foods with added vitamins and minerals and foods for specific groups of the population” will be held in Athens (Greece) from 13h to 17th September 2017. 30 participants coming from the EU Member States, Candidate Countries, EEA countries and Third Countries will be expected to attend the training session.

Programme:

The training programme will be settled on the best methodological mix to be offered. Theorical lectures and presentations will be combined with case studies, practical exercises and group discussion. The participants will also be assigned a project to realize over 4 days, consisting in a short video on the implementation of the EU rules addressed in the programme.

The training will be held in English and implemented over a period of 4 days. The daily work schedule will be set from 09h00 to 17h30, with 6 hours of effective training time, split in two sessions of 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon. A break of 30 minutes will be organized in the morning and in the afternoon each day.

Training center & Accommodation:

Participants will be welcomed and hosted at Divani Acropolis Hotel, which is located in the city centre of Athens, walking distance from the Acropolis and all the other cultural attractions of Athens like Plaka, the Brand New Acropolis Museum, Syntagma Square and the shopping districts. The hotel offers the finest accommodation and delightful culinary experience in the heart of Athens City.

All participants will be provided with a hotel room equipped with a bathroom with shower, a refrigerator, a television flat screen, air conditioning and free wireless access. Wired internet is available in the hotel rooms and all the public areas free of charge. Wireless internet connection is available in all public areas.

The trainees will benefit of the following services:

  • International travel in economy class by the most direct route
  • Personal health and repatriation insurance
  • Airport transfers
  • 4 nights’ accommodation and breakfast (5 nights for participants from ENP/Mediterranean basin and 6 nights for selected third countries)
  • 1 welcome drink and reception dinner the first day of the training, 7 coffee breaks, 4 lunches, 3 dinners
  • 1 social event in order to promote the networking within the group
  • Access to fully equipped training facilities and access to the internet
  • Documentation in paper and electronic form
  • Delivery of training certificates

 

No “per diem” or “pocket money” will be distributed to. All personal expenses such as extra nights, local transports, mini-bar, laundry, room services, and extra drinks/meals will be charged to the participants by the hotel.

Objectives:

The objective of the present programme is to spread knowledge and best practices in relation with general food labelling and claims as well as on specific categories of foods such as food supplements, foods with added vitamins and minerals and foods for specific groups of the population food composition and information, as per the requirements of the EU Food Law.

The contract requests the provision of training courses addressing the latest developments, as well as in the implementation of controls.

Selection procedure:

The selection criteria for participants are:

  • Relevancy to daily work: participants should in priority be staff of Competent Authorities, with a position related to Official Controls
  • Sufficient level of language: in order to ensure the transfer of knowledge and opportunities to exchange views, participants should master the language of the training session for which they applied
  • Ability to share their experience: priority will be given to participants whose position will allow them to share with colleagues the outputs of the training sessions.
