Description :

The training will be implemented over a period of 4 working days.
The daily work schedule will be 09h00 to 17h00-17h30 (depending on the day).
The workshop will be carried out in English.
Participants are requested to arrive on Monday 7th March and to depart on Friday 11th March in the evening (or Saturday 12th, according to the flight availability).
The first day will start with an introduction on the activities of the OIE in the region. The main part of the day will be dedicated to presenting the EU legislation on Animal Welfare at farm, during transport and at slaughterhouse.
The second day will be focused on the development of research on animal welfare (AW) and on religious slaughtering. Practical experiences from European Union and some Asian countries will be presented.
In the morning of the third day a study visit to a slaughterhouse will be organised. In the afternoon participants will be divided in groups for the debriefing and discussions on case studies. At the end of the day the groups will present the results of their work in plenary session.
The fourth day will start with the presentation of the Visit.  Then EFSA scientific opinions related to slaughter will be presented. Case studies on killing animals in emergency situation and on export certification to EU market will also be delivered to the audience.  In the afteroon a round table on the management of dog populations will be organised.

By further building knowledge and implementation of national legislation on animal welfare in Asia, the EU intends ensuring that concerned exporting countries establish effective measures compliant with the philosophy of EU legislation and OIE standards.

The specific objective is to enhance capacity of participants on the understanding of EU legislation on animal welfare and on how to implement equivalent standards in Asia, adapted to the local climatic and cultural context.

The National Contact Point designated by the central administration in each of the invited country will:

a)      consider the number of participants to be supported by the project;

b)      select participants complying with the selection criteria given hereunder and request them to fill the attached registration form;

c)      send the registration forms of the selected participants to Ms. Pai Ling LOH, Event Manager of AETS-Asia ( and to Mr. Pietro D’Elia, Project Manager (pietro.delia@aets-consultants.comlatest on 8th January 2016.

d)      Inform the Project Manager if additional participants not to be supported by the project and attending at the cost of their own authority will attend the workshop.

The Project Manager will verify the compliance of proposed participants to the selection criteria on the basis of the registration forms and inform the National Project Coordinator accordingly.
