This is the 4th session of "Prevention and monitoring of AMR  in the food chain".

This training will be held in Trim (Ireland) from 28th to the 31th March 2017.



The main topics included in the training programme are the following :

  • European Commission Action Plan
  • Relevant international initiatives in the field of AMR
  • EU legislation on AMR and antimicrobials’ use
  • Monitoring and reporting of AMR
  • Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases
  • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus
  • EU legislation on monitoring the use of antimicrobials
  • Commission guidance document on prudent use of antimicrobials in veterinary medicine
  • Best practices in promoting and strengthening prudent use of antimicrobials

The objective of the AMR training is to further harmonise the approaches and practices of the Member States in order to increase the effectiveness of the controls carried out by staff of the competent authority to verify compliance with the legal requirements in the field of antimicrobial consumption and AMR monitoring, reporting and control.

Selection procedure:

The training programme is open to participants whose application was received from the BTSF National Contact Points of their country - through the selection process described hereunder.

The profiles of the applicants should respect the following criteria:

  • Be officers from competent authorities involved in planning and coordinating relevant control activities (preferably at central level).
  • Be in a position to disseminate the knowledge acquired during the training within the national competent authority and/or to private sector operators.
  • Own proficiency in the language of the training

It is important to note that field inspectors involved the delivery of control activities in these domains and laboratory staff are not part of the target audience.

Priority will be given to the applications received before the deadlines, from the countries invited in the session. However to ensure some flexibility in the application process and ensure that all the seats are filled, candidates from the reserve lists might be accepted in each session.
